Elbert Williams Memorial Commemoration 2015

Elbert Williams Memorial Commemoration 2015

The Committee

In January, 2015 I was contacted by mail about being identified as the great grand niece of Elbert Williams, as well as being a potential DNA donor match. In addition to the critical gaps I filled in after meeting and learning from Mr. Ashworth and Mr. Emison, I was taken under the wings of the Elbert Williams Memorial Committee of Brownsville, Tennessee. On June 20, 2015, I was able to attend a home going service for my Uncle, 75 years post mortem.

Attorney Jim Emison submitted a binder full of materials to the local government in order for a historical marker to be erected in downtown Brownsville. I was honored to be a part of the unveiling on Saturday, June 20, 2015.
